A quarterly that is folded, never bound. Fold ships as a single enormous sheet — A0, printed both sides — that the reader unfolds in a fixed sequence; the grid is engineered so every intermediate state of unfolding is itself a composed spread.

Eight folds give sixteen valid reading states, and the editors commission to that structure: short pieces live on early unfolds, the long essay only exists fully open, spread across the whole sheet.

Subscribers argue about the correct way to refold it. The editors have never ruled; the crease pattern is the journal's real masthead.
