Client: Solen Bakery · Role: Identity, packaging, signage · Output: Wordmark, 14 packaging SKUs, wayfinding
A bakery that opens before the sun — so the mark fills like one. Solen's wordmark begins each day as an outline and fills with warm ochre as the ovens heat, a motion identity that runs on the shopfront sign, the receipts, and the tape that seals every box.
The packaging system uses a single die-cut carton in four sizes, printed in two inks on unbleached board. The sun-fill motif indexes the hour of baking: pastries boxed at 6am carry a thinner fill than the noon batch, so regulars learned to read freshness off the lid.

In-store, the identity turns architectural: the fill gradient becomes a painted band that wraps the counter and rises with the staircase to the mezzanine, ending at the exact height of the morning sun on the summer solstice.
"They gave the bakery a clock you can taste." — Ida Solen, founder
